Excerpt from the book:
“Anne Vilsbøll’s art is the result of intense innovative and inspirational research into the hidden potential of paper as a tool for modern means of expression. She has been acclaimed as one of the pioneers among a number of remarkable artists who during the past sixty years have searched to revive the lost form of the ancient craft of papermaking as a contemporary art form. “Handmade paper art remains a beacon of hope for Anne Vilsbøll to sustain our modern generation with the belief that we can remain comforted that art continues to revive ideological mythology in the present modern times we live in.
Her art orders and constructs from chaos to provide us with visions of a metaphysical world and which at the same time continues to create a bridge between the past and present.”

Project in India 2011-2012
India is celebrating the multi-faceted Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary in 2011-2012.
The project “On the Edge of the Sea”, proposed by Jarka Heller,UK and Anne Vilsboell, DK has been partly sponsored by the Indian ministry of culture and will take place in Udaipur, 5 – 12 February 2012, whereupon it will travel to Jodhpur, Jaipur and Kolkata.
ON THE EDGE OF THE SEA is Tagore’s most inspirational poem on “life journey”. Its rich imagery seduces and evokes all the senses.
Through use of diverse range of multimedia, starting with the poem itself being used in English, Hindi and Bengali and in many forms – from recordings to live performance-with photo-images, sculptures, paintings, projections of videos and music, this large-scale installation, both outdoor and indoor, will transform the venue into a magical dreamscape of Tagore’s vision, prompting the spectators to undertake a similar journey and provoke the viewer to question reality and analyze her/his own experience, not only through thought, but through her/his senses.
Tagore: “I believe, the unity of human civilization can be better maintained by linking up in fellowship and cooperation of the different civilizations of the world….The community becomes a common ground where relations are extended from the self to others, from the present to the future ….. Science has given man an immense power. The golden age will return when it is used in the service of humanity.”
